Description
Originating from Zululand (modern day KwaZulu-Natal), this rounded clay pot dates back to the 1970s and carries with it a happy history. Handcrafted using traditional coiling and firing methods, Zulu beer pots—known locally as ukhamba—were used both in ritual settings and communal gatherings to serve sorghum beer. The vessel’s organic form and natural smoky patina are characteristic of open-fire firing techniques, giving each piece its unique tonal variation.
A symbol of hospitality and good vibes, this pot is a testament to Zulu craftsmanship and cultural ritual. While no longer intended for practical use, it remains a deeply evocative sculptural object, ideal for collectors of African antiques or as a grounding accent in any interior space. One of one.
